Terms of Service

Last updated 26 August 2026

These terms govern your use of DocketTap ("we", "us"). By creating an account or otherwise using the service, you agree to these terms. If you're agreeing on behalf of a business, you're confirming you have authority to do so.

1. What the service is

DocketTap lets a business give customers a digital, itemised receipt by having them tap an NFC tile placed near a register. Receipts can be created manually through the dashboard, or automatically if you connect a supported point-of-sale system. No POS connection is ever required to use the service — manual entry is a permanent, fully supported way to use it.

2. Pre-launch & the waitlist

DocketTap is currently in a pre-launch period: dashboard signup isn't yet open to the public, and tiles haven't shipped. Joining the waitlist reserves your interest only — it doesn't take any payment and doesn't obligate you to buy anything. We'll email the address you provide once the first batch of tiles is confirmed and ready to order. Prices shown during pre-launch are indicative of our intended launch pricing and may change before general availability.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your login credentials confidential. You're responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

4. Tiles (hardware)

Tiles are pre-programmed with a unique code before they're shipped to you. Ownership of a tile transfers to you once purchased; the code it's programmed with remains tied to our service and can't be reprogrammed or resold separately from the tile. Don't attempt to extract, guess, or interfere with another business's tag codes.

Consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law apply to tiles regardless of anything else in these terms — if one arrives faulty or not as described, contact us and we'll put it right (repair, replacement, or refund, as the law requires).

5. Fees, billing, and the free trial

Tiles are sold at a one-time price (AUD $25 each at the time of writing — see the pricing page for the current price), charged when you complete checkout. Use of the dashboard and service is billed as a flat monthly subscription (AUD $19/month at the time of writing), with no fixed-term contract.

The subscription starts with a 30-day free trial from the date you buy your first tile. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, it automatically converts to a paid subscription and your payment method is charged AUD $19 — and again every month after that until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Billing in your dashboard; cancelling during the trial means you're never charged for the subscription. Cancelling later takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Prices may change; we'll give you reasonable notice before a change applies to you.

All payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details — see our Privacy Policy for what we do receive from Stripe.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or misleading
  • Attempt to access another business's account, registers, or receipts
  • Attempt to enumerate, scrape, or guess receipt or tag codes
  • Interfere with or circumvent rate limiting or other security measures
  • Use manual entry or any other part of the service to collect customer personal information beyond what it's designed for
  • Reverse engineer or resell access to the service without our written permission

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms.

7. Third-party services

Payments are processed by Stripe, and if you connect a point-of-sale system, your use of it is governed by that provider's own terms — we're not responsible for either service's availability or behaviour. The "Leave a review" link on a receipt sends customers to a review page you configure (typically on Google); we don't control or take responsibility for that destination.

8. Your data

How we collect, use, and store personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

9. Intellectual property

We own the DocketTap platform, branding, and underlying software. You retain ownership of your own business data (item names, prices, receipts you create). By using the service, you grant us the limited right to store and process that data solely to provide the service to you.

10. Termination

You can stop using the service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, non-payment, or if we discontinue the service — where reasonably possible, we'll give you notice first. On termination, your account data is handled per our Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimers & liability

The service is provided "as is". We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties not expressly stated in these terms, and our liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify account holders before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept it.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
